The problem

Treat Expert helps patients in Bangladesh get treatment abroad — hospitals in India, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, the UAE — plus the visa and travel side. But the site was still on WordPress with a heavy page-builder stack: slow on mobile (where most visitors were), template-y design, and weak SEO — duplicated meta tags, no clear page structure, missing image alt text. For a healthcare brand, a slow, cheap-looking site undermines trust before a visitor even reads a word.

What I did

I rebuilt it from scratch on Laravel + Inertia.js + React, MySQL, and Tailwind — fully hand-coded, no plugins. URLs and pages are now structured around treatment type and destination, every meta title/description is written individually, images are optimized with proper alt text, and page transitions are near-instant. The result: a site that looks like the healthcare brand it is, loads fast on mobile, and is fully indexable by Google.

Starting point

The old site was WordPress with a stack of page-builder plugins on top — the kind of setup where every new section means another plugin, and every plugin means more scripts loading before the page is usable. That's fine for a blog. It's a liability for a healthcare brand, where a visitor might be researching surgery for a parent and judges credibility in the first few seconds.

Choosing the stack

I went with Laravel on the backend for the same reason I usually do for a business like this: it's stable, well-documented, and easy to maintain long-term without needing a specialist to touch it later. Inertia.js sits in between, letting the frontend be built entirely in React without standing up a separate API layer — so it behaves like a single-page app (instant navigation, no full reloads) while still being a normal Laravel app underneath, with all the routing, auth, and database logic Laravel does well. MySQL holds the data — hospitals, doctors, services, bookings. Tailwind handled styling, which kept the CSS lean instead of inheriting a theme's unused rules.

What changed page by page

  • Information architecture: pages are organized around treatment type and destination country, so a URL and a page's content actually match what someone is searching for, instead of generic slugs left over from a template.

  • On-page SEO: every page got its own hand-written title and meta description — no more duplicated or auto-generated tags across the site.

  • Images: hospital and doctor photography now has real alt text, is compressed, and lazy-loads — so pages don't ship megabytes of images before a visitor sees anything.

  • Performance: no plugin stack means no plugin conflicts and no unused JS/CSS being loaded on every page. Assets are scoped to what each page actually needs.

  • Design: rebuilt the visual language to feel like a healthcare brand — cleaner typography, more whitespace, consistent components — instead of stacked template sections that didn't relate to each other.

Outcome

The rebuild took the site from something that looked and felt like a stock WordPress template to a fast, custom-built platform that can scale with the business — and gives Google a clean, well-structured page to index for every treatment and destination Treat Expert offers.

Our old website was slow and honestly didn't look professional enough for the kind of trust we need from patients. The new site loads fast, looks much more credible, and we can now handle a lot more visitors at once without any issues.
